Day 99 – Beginning of Week 15.  At 8 a.m., 44 degrees & sunny. Oddly, the parking lot is ½ full of trucks & boat trailers and the line of fishing boats leaving the harbor is long. Rob checked online to see if today was the first day of a fishing season for a specific catch, but it wasn’t. He looked further & it turned out that yesterday was very windy at sea with wind warnings posted, so no one went out. Today it’s windy here in the Bay but not at sea. Aha, mystery solved.

The other question, The Mystery Of The Continually-Thumping Noise During The Night, was promptly solved by Rob. When I mentioned the problem, he took a ladder & went outside and found that one side of the awning above the bedroom slide-out, which is right over my head in bed, is stretched, and if the wind blows from the right direction, it causes the awning to flap against the ceiling of the RV.  What to do about it? He has to work on that one. But Mr. Fix-it always finds a way.  He started by looking online at blogs & found this is a common problem.

We sat around, had our coffee and leftover sticky bun & scone, hard-boiled some eggs for future egg salad sandwiches, and decided to go back to the bakery for more goodies. Really, when you find something that good and you may never get back here again, what do you do?  Indulge. I rearranged things in the freezer & refrigerator to fit it all in. Yum!  We bought a very heavy loaf of Super Seed whole wheat bread, a couple of scones, and two loaves of their fougasse – a flat bread with mixed vegetables, herbs, & cheeses.

We went to a County Park and took a hike on The Bird Walk which is a trail that is bordered on both sides by marsh and water. Very pretty. The high today was 62 degrees with a light breeze and sunny skies. There are so many birds here; it’s just amazing.

When we got back to the RV, we sat outside by the Bay. The fishing boats that went out to sea this morning were all coming back and the tide was going out. Birds everywhere & a couple of them were a bit grouchy.

We had an early dinner at the Spud Point Crab Company shack, located across the street from the marina where the fish boats come in with the day’s catch. Outside dining at picnic tables only. The reviews online were saying they had the best clam chowder ever! We got clam chowder and crab sandwiches on their homemade sourdough bread. Yes, best clam chowder ever, agree both Rob and me. Each crab sandwich had ¼ lb of freshly-caught Dungeness Crab, absolutely the freshest we’d ever tasted. This place is just down the street from the campground. Everytime we’ve driven by, they were packed & there was a line of people waiting to order. We went at 3:30, Ha!, no line. Super, super good food.

THANK YOU, EVERYONE, FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY WISHES!
