Day 13 – The traffic noise from I-84 is really loud; otherwise this is a good campground. It’s by  the beautiful Great Salt Lake with the mountains behind it on one side, and close-by mountains on the other side. It was not crowded last night, but tonight they were fully booked up. It was 38 degrees this morning when we got up.

Each campsite has a large picnic table situated in a cabana. We are in the Cottonwood loop. Here most sites are somewhat open, but we found one surrounded by trees & reserved it. All sites within this loop are full hook-up. The other loop, called Willowcreek, has some larger, shaded sites. It’s all no hook-ups. There are several places to access the Lake, each with cabana-covered picnic sites near the water & large parking lots with room for cars & their boat trailers.

At the south end of the State Park there’s another campground at the South Marina; most of the people that stay there are camping with boats.

Before going to the Wildlife Refuge, we went into Brigham City to an Amish store & picked up some groceries. Several people have recommended Amish cheeses to us; we tried samples at the store and bought some. Really good. We also got sandwiches to bring with us for our day at  the Refuge.

We spent most of the day at the Wildlife Refuge. It never got over 50 degrees & it was breezy. Beautiful day. (Lots of mosquitoes though – we were surprised since it gets into the 30’s at night.) We saw many, many White-faced Ibis’s (they must’ve stopped to rest during migration); also, they had a number of Great Blue Herons, Snow Egrets, Western Grebes (some with babies), American Coots, Swallows darting about eating the mosquitoes, and the magnificent White Pelicans. Again, the scenery was gorgeous.

We went out to dinner in Brigham City, and stopped to get pictures of the Great Salt Lake near our campground, then returned to the RV. Fed the cats (who were very relaxed & happy to have a day not travelling); it had started to rain. Getting dark & we saw that there was a beautiful sunset. Rob got some amazing pictures.
