Day 23 – Every morning since we arrived at this campground Rob has been going to the same place along the River where he can try to photograph the resident bald eagle that comes here to hunt for breakfast. Today he came back from his morning walk, happy with his pictures.
It was supposed to rain last night but it looks like that didn’t happen – warm and humid out, 70 degrees and no wind, cloudy – 9 a.m. Don’t know what we’re going to do later, but for now we’re hanging out waiting for our neighbors to leave and we’ll be moving to their campsite. When we arrived, there were no sites available for 5 nights in a row, so we booked one site for 3 nights and another for 2 nights. Then we’ll go dump tanks and settle in again just across from where we were. That’ll confuse the girls!
We moved to the new site; it’s better than the one we had before. Better view; large site. The girls were confused.
Site 2, Buck Hall Campground, SC
Went for a drive thru the Francis Marion National Forest and then back to McClellansville. Windy, humid, 77 degrees. When we were driving around, we passed a sign for the “Center for Birds of Prey”; it was closed but will be open tomorrow. There are one-hour tours. We’re coming back tomorrow. Back to the screened tent. Lots of people trying to get a campsite but the campground is full.
