Day 19 – It was colder last night than it has been here, but bright sun this morning, no clouds, 43 degrees out. We’d like to go kayaking today once it warms up.

We went out right after lunch to one of the places we’d checked out yesterday.  It was very windy then & no one else was using the boat launch. But today there was barely room to park the car and people were in line to take their boats out. More people arrived after us to put in. A couple was pulling out their fishing boats; they’d caught lots of fish – it was Striped Bass season. Two guys were pulling out their kayaks & they’d picked bunches of wild mushrooms. They traded some fish for some mushrooms. People were going to have a good dinner tonight!

This turned out to be a popular place & we could soon understand why. The boat launch was on Indiantown Creek. If you paddled to the left after putting in, the creek would get larger & you’d head out into the North River. The motor boats all went that way. If you paddled to the right, you’d go under a low bridge & paddle away from North River, entering a beautiful, winding waterway with Bald Cypress on both sides. It was perfect for kayaking. No alligators, though.

We kayaked for a couple of hours, only seeing two other paddlers. It was a gorgeous day, just a small breeze, mostly sunny, and the high reached 63 degrees. We went back to the RV around 4 p.m., relaxed and enjoyed some nachos. The girls enjoyed their napping.
