GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK – DINNER AND A MUSEUM, PART 2.
Day 148 – The wind backlash from Tropical Storm Lee is beginning to show up here. Cloudy and windy, it was 63 degrees this morning when we got up. The wind isn’t bad yet, but it will be increasing during the next several days.

After an early lunch at the RV, we drove back to the Discovery Centre in Woody Point; it’s about an hour from the campground. The sun was out & the clouds were pretty. We stopped at a couple of turnouts to take pictures of the scenery, and took some more from the museum’s third floor balcony.

On Tuesday when we first visited the museum, we didn’t have enough time to finish our tour. Tuesday we focused mostly on the geological history of Newfoundland. Today we toured the exhibit on Newfoundland’s Native Indian culture. All the pictures taken at the museum on both days are posted below.

On the way back to the RV we took a dirt road to see what we’d find. It meandered inland through the mountains. We hoped to see Moose or Caribou. No luck there. It was a nice drive, though, and some of the trees & bushes are starting to show fall colors.
We returned to Chanterelles Restaurant tonight to try other items from their menu. The pasta special I’d ordered the last time we were there was so good that both of us were hoping to get it again. The waitress had said that the Chef changes the special daily. As it turned out, the pasta special offered was an even better one than before, and we both ordered it as our main course. We had the Burnt Orange Cosmopolitan CocktaiI first, then split the Caesar Salad and the Fish Cakes appetizers. It was hard to decide about the main course. They had two others that sounded really good: Scallops over Chanterelle Risotto with seasonal vegetables, and Cod cooked with a Lemon-Panko Crust served over Saffron Rice with a Tarragon Pesto Sauce. Yum. But we could not pass up the Pasta and we didn’t regret the decision. House-made Tagliatelle Pasta in a Tomato Rose Cream Sauce with Artichoke Hearts and Sun-Dried Tomatoes, topped with Mussels, Salmon, Halibut, and Shrimp. It was all very good. We did not get dessert; just too full.
It’s funny. Every time we go to a special restaurant, we say we need to remember to take pictures of our food. Like people do on Instagram or Twitter or other social media. We start out doing well. Both Tuesday night and tonight, we got pictures of our cocktails and the homemade bread and flavored butters. Then, both times, they brought out the appetizers and we dug right in, remembering the pictures when our plates were almost empty. We are always in a hurry to try the food. Just can’t seemed to get the hang of photographing our food. LOL.
Tomorrow morning we’ll have to change campsites because someone else had already reserved the site we’re in beginning tomorrow. We’ll be moving to an inland campsite for
the following two nights, then leaving for another campground farther south. The site we’re moving to is just fine, surrounded by trees and private.
