GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK – DINNER AND A MUSEUM.
Day 146 – The Loons were calling to each other this morning from out on the Pond. This morning it was 55 degrees when we got up. It was windy and cloudy, but at least it’s not raining. We just hung out at the RV until after lunch. Maybe the sun will come out?

After lunch we drove to the Discovery Centre in Woody Point. The center is in a very large building, located on a hill with great views of Bonne Bay and the surrounding area. We were particularly interested in the geological history of Gros Morne.
The Gros Morne National Park Discovery Centre…… “showcases everything the national park is renowned for. The main display area features an impressive 3-D map of the park, a human history display, interactive exhibits, geological samples and descriptions, and a theater. There is also a gift shop, a cafe, an art gallery, and for planning purposes, park literature. Outside, a short trail leads through a garden planted with species native to the park.” excerpts taken from the Newfoundland/Labrador Traveller’s Guide 2023, and Moon Handbooks, Atlantic Canada, 5th Edition, 2009
We spent a couple of hours at the museum, but we had to leave in order to run a couple of errands before going out to dinner. We’ll be going back, possibly Thursday, to see the rest of the Center. We’ll just post all of the pictures in one place after our final visit.
We had made reservations for dinner tonight at The Black Spruce Restaurant. (When you discover a great restaurant, you need to go back several times to try many things from the menu! LOL) We were seated at a window table again, so we enjoyed the view while having the Partridgeberry Cocktail that we like. For appetizers we split the Carrot Fritters and the Seafood Chowder – both were excellent. The dinner Rob ordered was the Crispy Tofu, which I had the last time we were there. I ordered one of the evening‘s specials, the Fresh Halibut over Saffron Risotto and served with sauteed Fresh Green Beans and Sweet Potato Patties. Everything was very good. We didn’t get dessert; we were too full. We made reservations to go back one more time, the night before we leave Gros Morne. It was partly cloudy this afternoon with a high of 64 degrees.
