RAIN AND WIND.

Day 110 – It rained all night and continued through the morning, 56 degrees. The wind increased throughout the day. Rob had to take the screened tent down when the roof collapsed inward – just a little too much for the tent and we didn’t want the poles to bend. The high temperature today was 57 degrees and that’s the warmest it’s been all day.

This is a small campground with only 13 campsites. Yesterday four sites were occupied; today only three until a Van came in later. It has been quiet. We heard from the guys camping near us, and the campground host, that Whales had been seen from here nightly except for the last two nights. The Capelin were running. We hope they haven’t stopped!

Today was the first day of staying around the RV all day since last Tuesday, and the past four days involved lots of driving, some of it on tedious rough roads. Today was a great day of catching up. We did a lot of cooking, enough for a bunch of dinners. We also intend to eat out at the local Outport Tea Room at least twice while we are here. This is the small local restaurant where we had dinner in 2019, followed by live Newfoundland music in the parlor. We’ll be investigating the little villages and a larger one when the weather clears.

Later today, after it stopped raining and we had finished our chores, Rob walked to the point in front of the Park overlooking the harbor. There were other people out, too, looking for whales, but as of 7 p.m., none had shown up. Rob did get a picture of a large iceberg in the distance (Can you imagine? Icebergs in August?) and pictures of a friendly White-Throated Sparrow. He looked back at the RV at the campground and got a picture of that, also.

The girls must’ve been worn out today. They slept hard all day. Here are some pics of the girlies that we’ve taken during the past couple of weeks.
