PRETTY MUCH ALL ABOUT FOOD.

Day 78 – It rained last night with thunder so loud it woke us up and we thought there was an avalanche or something. Today it was raining on & off and it was quite humid. The low last night was 60 degrees and today the high was 73 degrees & breezy. At least the weather wasn’t too hot so the humidity wasn’t overwhelming. We’ve heard how hot it’s been in places in the U.S. We feel for you that are affected!

The shower head in the RV broke last night. This warranted us having to go into St. John’s today for shopping. (Normally we stay away from shopping in big cities.) Once finding a water-saving RV replacement shower head that would have adequate pressure, we figured since we were surrounded by stores and malls, we’d do other shopping. Groceries, liquor, and another bag of kitty litter were bought.

And this made us hungry for lunch! We ate at a place called, Quesada Burritos & Tacos. It was more of a cafeteria-style place where you design-your-own meal. We both ended up with Bowls, with our main ingredient being Saucy Chipotle Tofu for Rob, and Cilantro-Lime Fish (Cod, of course) for me. We both had them add black beans, spanish rice, corn, onions, scallions, peppers, a little grated cheese, lettuce, tomato, and they had many choices for salsas. It was quite good.

Back at the RV, the thunder startled us again. Different than the thunder we have heard in NY, we both wondered if something nearby had exploded. We worked on dinner for tonight and tomorrow night – yes, more food! LOL. We cooked the Cod that the fisherman had given us in Grate’s Cove. We’d bought some beautiful Broccoli at the grocery store, and all the makings for a wonderful salad. We take back all we’ve said about there being no decent produce in Newfoundland. There is plenty in St. John’s. Our bodies, starving for fresh vegetables and crisp salads, we are going to love it. The fish was pan-seared in a very hot skillet with a little coconut oil; it had been covered in the spice rub we got at the Artist’s Studio Restaurant. It was all very good. Now we are baking some Chocolate Chip Cookies. And that’s all for today. Grin.
