A BUSY DAY AT THE RV.
Day 70 – There were some more things we could’ve done in the Bonavista/Trinity area, but the weather forecast called for a cloudy day. Since we’d spent the previous two days away from the girls and we had some chores that needed to be done, we decided to stay at the campsite today. As usual, it turned out the weather forecast was wrong. It was sunny & clear until 3:30 p.m. Thank goodness for that – we had a problem doing laundry at the campground and had to dry four loads of already-washed laundry the old fashioned way.
Last night when we went to bed, the temperature had dropped rapidly to 47 degrees and was supposed to go lower than that. Then it rained all night. This morning when we got up, it was 54 degrees. The temperature kept rising to the mid-70’s and it became quite windy. This was wonderful, since the clothes dryer was only putting out cold air. Rob strung ropes from trees all over the back of the campsite. We’d washed four loads of laundry before we realized that the dryer wasn’t working. We had a limited amount of clothespins, (we were lucky we had any at all with us since we’ve never had to use them before, and I’d considered not bringing them anymore). The wet clothes were hung out to dry, many of the clothes just draped over the lines. The wind kept blowing the items off the line that were just hung over the lines without clothespins. But thank goodness for the sun and wind and the warm temperatures! The sheets, towels, everything would’ve otherwise stayed wet.
We were several days behind on the Blog due to us being gone all day those two days. Between me working on the blog and Rob working on the pictures, and between the rotation of the laundry as it dried, running outside to pick up and hang again the items that had fallen to the ground, and the folding of it all as piece-by-piece it became dry, we were working on the laundry and the blog all day. We’d already prepared food so no cooking was needed for today or tomorrow. This was a good thing since we’re leaving tomorrow morning for a fairly long drive to Grate’s Cove, one of our favorite places in Newfoundland. The high today 76 degrees. It was sunny for much of the day; windy, humid, and very buggy with some mosquitoes and lots of biting black flies. There will be less bugs when we’re by the ocean and away from the woods.
