CORNER BROOK.
Day 37 – It rained hard all night and it was windy, pretty cold & nasty out. It was 34 degrees as a low last night. It rained most of the day today, though it wasn’t pouring after about 10 a.m. Cold and with enough wind to make it miserable, we went to Corner Brook to get stocked up with goods before heading to a couple of remote campgrounds.
The snow begins in various places tonight. We may get some where we’re going tomorrow, or even here tonight, but it shouldn’t be much. Between the coming snow & rain & high winds, the weather will be bad in most of Newfoundland for the next 3 to 4 days.
We drove into Corner Brook, a large city about 40 minutes south of here. Corner Brook is interesting; we were there several times in 2019. The city is built on hills and driving through it is like driving through San Francisco. They have all the stores of a big city and nicely, most of them are located in one general area which makes shopping easier. It was raining lightly and windy/foggy.

First we went to one of the two Newfoundland Liquor Stores in Corner Brook. Being in a larger city, the selection of beer & wine was much bigger. We know our priorities, LOL, and we don’t want to be caught in the boonies without good beer & wine! Then we stopped for lunch at Harbour Grounds – a small, popular cafe overlooking the harbor. They serve various coffees, a selection of sandwiches, and several soups and salads. Baked goods, too. We had the Pesto Vegetable Panini with the Potato Leek Soup. Both were very good.
Off to do the rest of our chores, we stocked up on our supplies & groceries at the large supermarket. The produce wasn’t too bad except they had no red onions. Then we went to a large pet store, Pet Value, and found the dry food that the kitties like. Stopped at Canadian Tire and got propane for the RV. Got gas in the Honda. And headed back to the RV. Rainy, foggy, and windy – the high today was only 42 degrees. It may get down in the 20’s next week.
Tomorrow we leave for a different campground and Wednesday we’ll leave for another one, both of these out in the boonies. We are almost certain we won’t have any signals for a week. After this blog post, it may be a week before we can send more out. We leave you with some pictures of the girls………
