HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GAYLE! WE HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT YEAR AHEAD.
Day 384 – As soon as the sun came up, people were packing up and leaving the campground this morning. It looks like it may be nice and quiet for the rest of our stay here. Maybe the girls will forgive us now.
It rained on and off most of the day today. At times the rain came down so hard we couldn’t see much in front of us. Since it was a Sunday, the traffic wasn’t as bad as it could have been on a weekday. We made it safely to Pam’s home in Louisville before noon.
It wasn’t a great day for Pam and one of her dogs, Rory. When we got to her house, she was on the phone trying to get a Vet appointment for the dog. Rory is a foster dog; she just brought him into her home last week. He’s an older Boston Terrier, and he is blind – he had major surgery recently, and she is fostering him until he has recovered and the shelter can get him into a permanent home. This morning Rory was sick with a possible bladder or kidney infection, and a couple of other problems which indicated he had an infection. Meanwhile, she has three other dogs; her dogs – not fosters, but one of them (Dexter) is also a new addition to the family, and he is a 1 ½ year old, extremely active and overly friendly Boston Terrier. When we got there, it was like WHO LET THE DOGS OUT – pure pandemonium, while Pam was shouting into the phone, trying to be heard over the barking and growling. (Cats are so much easier!)
We spent most of the afternoon at the Vet in the car, babysitting one of the dogs while Pam and Rory were seeing the Veterinarian. A subdued Rory was finally taken home with medicine for his infected ears and tomorrow when the test results come back, Rory will get more medicine along with his results.
Exhausted, we took Pam to an early dinner in Louisville at August Moon, a very nice restaurant with fantastic Chinese food. We went to this restaurant the last time we were here and really wanted to go back – it is THAT good! Back to Pam’s house for a short visit with the dogs (they all like Rob because he can play rough with Dexter and keep the maniac occupied). We’ll see them all again tomorrow afternoon.
Later at the RV, the campground had almost completely emptied out. The girls were happy to see us and we were glad they were cats – not dogs. No offense meant to anyone who has dogs! They are just very different animals, and we had quite a busy day seeing these differences in high speed action (Dexter). Phew.
