LACREEK NWR, DAY 2.
Day 362 – It was in the low 30’s this morning and full sun when we got up. The high today was 66 degrees. We went to the Wildlife Refuge this morning, came back to the RV for lunch, then went back to the Refuge this afternoon.
Lacreek National Wildlife Refuge was so conveniently close to where we’re camping that we were able to drive it both earlier in the day and later in the afternoon when most of the wildlife were out and about. The Auto Tour was long and the gravel road was fairly well maintained. It is Grouse hunting season, and the hunting area was nicely a distance from the Auto Tour road. We saw very few people, which helps when you have an animal you are watching and are ready to take a picture. No one drove by and scared the animal away.

We’d planned on staying another day here, but our originally-planned travel day appears to be a windy day. So we are changing our plans and leaving here tomorrow to miss the wind when driving the RV. We were just going to drive around the NWR some more, so no big deal. Our current campground remained almost empty except for a few fishermen and their dogs. It was a lovely spot right on the lake/reservoir. The sunset tonight over the lake was particularly nice!
