PETE.

Day 110 – As previously mentioned, Cathie & Pete are camping near us. Pete is a funny dog, and he constantly cracks us up. Night before last we were sitting in the tent, Cathie was visiting, and Pete was inside her trailer tucked away in his bed.

It was warm out. We both had our RV doors open, and screen doors shut. I was facing her trailer and could easily see the screened door open from the inside a little and swing shut again, several times. I mentioned it when Pete’s head appeared and he looked longingly at us in the tent, and then the door swung shut again. Cathie said, naw, can’t be, Pete wouldn’t do that. Um, I say, there he is again, and Cathie looks as Pete’s head disappears again. No Pete wouldn’t leave there. And we all laugh. A minute or two later, I look up and Pete is casually strolling from their trailer to our tent. It was so funny. He happily joined us in the tent. He loves to reminisce, too.

Today it got windy again but not as bad as yesterday. Rob continued the work he started yesterday – getting the wiring and connections ready for the addition of more solar panels. Then when we pick up the additional solar panels in California, the hard work will already have been done.

We visited with Cathie & Pete, either at their place our ours, throughout the day and we all sat in the tent later until almost dinner time when we heard a noise, something between a poof and a boom from inside our RV. Cathie saw a light flash inside the kitchen; she was facing the RV. Rob went in to check, and we heard this little voice say, “You know how butane lighters have a warning printed on them about being kept away from high heat?”

Oops, earlier he’d set the lighter down inside the oven when lighting the pilot light and had forgotten about it. Later when it was time to preheat the oven for dinner, we turned the oven on. Granted, it could’ve been much worse, and you’d need to have been here to see how funny his sheepishness was, but we all laughed pretty hard.

We had dinner in the RV; Cathie brought her own on her little tray. It was fun. Pete knows us and the cats have become familiar with Cathie, but Pete and the girls don’t meet face-to-face. They watch each other from afar.
