GOOD FRIENDS.

Day 50 – It rained some last night and was comfortably cool this morning. Rob went through the RV checking all the shelving to make sure they were all continuing to handle the loads of supplies we carry. All that alcohol is heavy, you know? Ho ho. He made a few more wooden supports, and except for the cupboard that holds beverage glasses, everything was fine. Those shelves will get tightened by screws when we get home.

Our friend, Cathie, is here in Vermont camping in a tent with her great dog, Pete. We’ve been friends in NY for many years. She is visiting some friends up here, and us, too. She’s currently camping at a campground across the Lake in Burlington, but will be moving to our campground tomorrow, staying through the weekend. Today she and Pete came over to visit for several hours. We showed her our set up (she’s picking up her new Airstream trailer beginning of August), and we wanted to share with her some of the things we’ve learned since 2017. We had a lot of fun hanging out, went to lunch at Blue Paddle by the Bay, the new off-shoot of the Blue Paddle Restaurant where we went for our anniversary. The restaurant is unique: you order your food outside near where you park your car, then traipse down a hill to a pavilion by Lake Champlain where there are tables. They bring the food to you when it’s cooked. There is a bar, and at night it’s all lit up outside. The menu is small with sandwiches; in a couple of weeks they will also be serving wood-fired pizza.

Afterwards we went back to our campground, visited some more and took a walk thru part of the campground to the landing where Pete went for a little romp in the Lake. We will visit with them again tomorrow when she sets up her tent at a campsite near ours. It started raining a little after 6 p.m. and is supposed to rain all night.
