NEWFOUNDLAND – BUCHANS JUNCTION TO ROBERT’S ARM.
Day 103 – We are leaving bugland today. Nice Park but we did not volunteer to donate this blood. At 7:20 this morning it was 52 degrees and sunny. We departed Mary March Park at 10:50 a.m. The clouds had come in and it was 64 degrees. The first part of the trip involved very rough road, but after that the girls remained quiet & slept together, a bundle of multi-colored fur.
We made no stops, just drove directly to our next destination, Robert’s Arm, back up north to the Ocean. We arrived at Crescent Lake RV Park at 12:20 p.m. It was 66 degrees, partly cloudy with a nice breeze. We’d reserved site #35 several days ago when we were up here campground scouting. We just drove into the site & set up, the girls were happy to be here, and we all had lunch.
The campground is independently owned & operated. We expected it to be noisier than it was. No one came in during the day to camp near us. You could hear highway noise but this is a small peninsula and there’s not much traffic. Our site was on the Lake with a few trees between us and the water. We had water & electrical hook-ups. A boil water notice was in effect. There was a dump station. The playground was located off in a different loop. Rob set up the screened tent and we spent the afternoon out there.

There were very few bugs during the day. As it was getting dark, the campground host visited to collect the campground fees & bring us a load of free camp fire wood. At that time, it may have been peak bug time because the mosquitoes were out in full force. A nice couple came in to the site next to us and set up a tent. A tent in the mosquitoes – hardy souls. We could tell they were from Newfoundland. The high today was a pleasant 71 degrees. We’d previously thawed the Partridgeberry juice concentrate that we’d gotten at Grates Cove and the lobster & crab that we’d bought at the Lobster Pound near Twillingate. We made Cosmo’s with the juice & melted some butter for dipping the Lobster & Crab. So yummy.
