Hello all. Hope you had a good Winter.
We’re headed back to Maine to continue work on our cottage build.
We had a nice cold and snowy Winter at home in NY this year. Over the past few weeks it has been warming up significantly, with a few days in the 80’s and the trees are almost fully leafed out. In Downeast Maine, it is still very early Spring, cold and rainy. We took our usual leisurely trip from home to our land with two stops, one in Massachusetts and one in Southern Maine

In Freeport, ME we stayed at Wolfe’s Neck Oceanfront Farm and Campground, as usual. When we checked in, we were told that 28 goats had recently been born and we could go see them in the barn (one pregnant mama was still due at any time). Yay!

The girls loved the short stay in Freeport, where they watched the cows and generally had a fun time.

As usual we went to LL Bean to see if we could find anything to buy and this time we saw the LL Bean shoemobile.

We got to our land on Saturday May 9. Rob had to cut a few trees that had fallen into our campsite, but we set up quickly. We visited the cottage, which made it through the Winter well. You may recall that we spent last year putting in the foundation and getting to the point where the cottage was weather tight. There was just one issue with some siding that buckled near two windows on the garage that will have to be taken care of before painting.

We’ll update the blog periodically as we make progress on the build. There’s lots to do:
- caulking and painting the outside
- oiling the interior wood (beams and pine tongue & groove ceiling)
- putting up interior walls
- plumbing
- electrical
- HVAC
- lighting
- appliances
- ETC!
Welcome back!
And Happy Mother’s Day, Vicki!
All so exciting!!!
And LOVE those sweet goats!
Hope your summer is productive and HAPPY!!!
