BUSY, BUSY.

Day 8 – We got up early this morning, 43 degrees & partly cloudy. The kitties had taken several toys out of their toy box and placed them by Rob’s recliner. Do you think this was a hint that they wanted him to play? Rob took his morning coffee time overlooking the harbor and took a picture at almost high tide.

Today was similar overall to yesterday except that Rob spent the day repairing the chipper’s carburetor and running into town to get new belts for the chipper/shredder, only to find the local town’s auto supply store had closed down. Shopping elsewhere and finding only one belt, he returned and finished the chipping, turning the downed trees & bushes into chips to put down on the trail paths. By the way, we are happy to report there are NO bugs out yet. Soon the black flies and mosquitoes will make it difficult to spend a lot of time working on the trees.

I continued working on campground reservations while most of the people I contacted yesterday called back. I spent lots of time on the phone since Newfoundland’rs tend to be friendly and very talkative. I made good progress, though. Tomorrow I will field the phone messages left today, and research camping in New Brunswick & Nova Scotia for both before & after the time we’ll be spending in NF. It actually reached a high of 55 degrees. Downright balmy! There was a little rain in the afternoon.
