THE QUEETS RAINFOREST.

Day 220 – This morning we got a phone call from the owner of the campground where we had the problem yesterday with the campsite being too muddy to camp there. He wanted to tell us that we could move to another site. We told him we’d been unable to reach him yesterday, so we’d just moved on to a different campground. He explained he’d been out on a fishing trip and no one could reach him, and he gave us a refund. He was very nice, so now we’re not giving him a bad review or ruling out camping there in the future.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Echoes of the Sea, Copalis Beach, WA.

To:Quileute Oceanside Resort, La Push, WA.

Day 219 – It rained all night and was very windy this morning. We looked at several weather briefings and decided to carefully & slowly go ahead and leave, rather than waiting until this afternoon when the wind was lower. We were traveling inland about half the journey to our next campground; the winds were higher on the coast.

Day 217 – There’s nothing new here. It’s almost dark and it’s raining now, but it didn’t rain during the day for a change. Today, Rob worked on our budget and I worked on spending money, LOL. No really, I was just planning the stuff we’d need to get before going into Canada at the end of this month. We’ll be there for at least 4 months. I was making a list of items we wouldn’t readily find – things I might need to get in advance. Exciting day, eh?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANN D! WE HOPE YOU WERE ABLE TO CELEBRATE WITH YOUR FAMILY!

Day 216 – Well, another day was spent inside. This time the weather was warmer and humid with long intervals of heavy wind and rain. It is very muddy out. We wish there was some way to share this rain with some of the areas that so badly need it! Meanwhile, tomorrow is another day, and the weather forecast is for less rain. We’ll see.

BACK INDOORS AGAIN.

Day 215 – It was a little warmer today with a high of 53 degrees, but it was very windy with full clouds and some rain. We stayed inside and kept the girls company as they spent their day napping. Rob finished bug-proofing the RV by filling the small openings he had found. He’s done with this iteration of the job; he says we can always improve it later if we find out the mosquitoes (or a large bumblebee) enter the RV. With this weather in the Pacific northwest, bug season could be nasty. At least it wasn’t pouring rain all day!

THE QUINAULT RAINFOREST.

Day 214 – Today rain was light & occasional, the sun came out every now & then, it wasn’t very windy, but it was cold, 38 degrees when we woke up, and in the mid-to-upper 40’s most of the day. We spent the day driving, hiking and exploring in the Quinault Rainforest. It is still off-season. Museums, restaurants, and some campgrounds were still closed. But the rainforest was wide open and it was wonderful.

A QUICK DRIVE.

Day 213 – It rained hard last night and all morning. When it stopped raining temporarily after lunch, we quickly headed for the car and took advantage of the break in the rain. It was 48 degrees and very cloudy. The sun was briefly shining through the thick clouds. We drove up the coast as far as the road was open. The road was closed when we reached the Quinault Indian Reservation land, private road, no trespassing.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Bayshore RV Park, Tokeland, WA.

To:Echoes of the Sea, Copalis Beach, WA.

Day 212 – We got up at 6:40 a.m. and guess what, it was raining. 42 degrees. The cats were hungry and were not going to take the brush-off. We were up early. Fed the cats and off to nap they went. And we were now wide awake. We had our coffee/tea, our showers, then we headed off to Raymond to the hardware store once again. Rob needed more plug-the-holes materials.
