TRAVEL DAY
From: Seal Rocks RV Cove, Seal Rock, OR.
To:Harborview Inn & RV Park, Garibaldi, OR.
Day 193 – At 7:30 a.m. this morning it was 46 degrees and cloudy, and it was NOT raining! Now the weather gets nice – when we’re leaving this area. Oh well. We took one last look at the ocean waves crashing on the rocks, packed up & departed at 10:55 a.m. Still not raining & partly cloudy.

We took Highway 101 north all the way to Garibaldi, OR (11 miles beyond Tillamook, home of the fantastic cheese). We made two stops along the way, one at the Mini Pet Mart in Newport to pick up some kitty litter that came in yesterday, and second, lunch in the RV at a pretty rest stop by a river. About half of the drive was along the ocean, and we’d driven that route previously when sightseeing. The other half of the drive was inland through the Siuslaw National Forest, then through rolling hills and farmland as we approached the Tillamook area. We’ve never been this far north in Oregon. Tomorrow morning we’ll be taking the Honda to Tillamook.

Highway 101 was making its way back to the coast when we reached our campground at 1:50 p.m. It was 54 degrees with hazy sun. Harborview Inn & RV Park was situated on Tillamook Bay which feeds into the ocean nearby. It’s a lovely, quiet setting. We checked in and drove to our campsite, #30, right on the Bay, with no one camping on either side of us. We unpacked and settled in, the girls enjoying sunlight on the dashboard. This is a nice Park and we didn’t even scout it out first – Rob found it on the internet. Later we took pictures of the Bay around sunset. The high today was warmer – 57 degrees.
