TRAVEL DAY

From: Harbor Vista Campground, Lane County Park, Florence, OR.

To:Sea Perch RV Resort, Yachats, OR.

Day 185 – It rained less last night and the wind died down, but it was 37 degrees this morning when we got up. Cold! The cat’s new best bird friend visited; we think the girls will hate to leave all this excitement today and will miss the Wrentit when we depart.

It would be a short drive to our next campground and we couldn’t check in until after 1 p.m., so we left our current campground as late as we could. This always surprises the cats since they’d completely settled in for the day, believing we weren’t going anywhere. But alas, they got tucked away in the bedroom when we departed at 12:35 p.m. It was 47 degrees, partly cloudy with a little wind. It did rain some this morning, but nothing this afternoon. YAAA!

The drive was short but incredibly scenic, mostly along the Ocean. The sun did come partially out and we felt like celebrating. Good Day Sunshine! Highway 101 was winding through the hills, then along the Ocean, and it was gorgeous.

We arrived at the Sea Perch RV Resort in Yachats, Oregon at 1:10 p.m. This is a small private campground with dynamite oceanfront campsites. We discovered this place when scoping out campgrounds, but when I called them asking for a site for 4 nights, they were almost completely booked and had nothing for 4 nights in a row. So we opted to change campsites. Tonight we are in site #6, full hook-ups, right on the Ocean, one of the best campsites we’ve ever had. Tomorrow we change to a different campsite, and Saturday we change again for two nights. We don’t mind. The view is worth a million.

It was 44 degrees when we arrived, but it did warm up to 50 degrees later in the afternoon. The wind was light and the sun was still out, but going in & out of the clouds. Because the sun was shining, it made sitting outside on our very own campsite patio tolerable, even if it was a bit cold. We bundled up and watched the surf – so beautiful – until 6 p.m. It was only too cold when the sun went behind the clouds and the wind picked up. We hope the weather stays decent while we’re here! Rob took sunset pictures from in front of our campsite. P.S. The girls were unimpressed by the ocean view; they were happy there was sun coming in their windows, yes, but where was that cute little birdie? Oh well, you can’t please everyone.
