ZOOM, DINNER, & RAIN.

Day 114 – It rained all night and was pouring this morning when we got up. No coffee at the ManCliff for Rob! We’re sure the birds are hunkered down, too. Tomorrow is the annual meeting of residents & landowners of property on the road here. Rob is a member of the Board, the Secretary, and he’s been doing extra work this year. Because there are lots of items up for discussion and several Board & Trustee positions are also up for reelection, there is more interest than usual this year. It’s such a distance for many people to travel, therefore most people are often unavailable to physically attend these meetings each year. This year, we are hoping to present the meeting via Zoom for those who cannot attend, in addition to holding the in-person meeting. Rob is helping to facilitate the Zoom call.

Cell phone & internet connections are often not reliable here. This is making the possibility of a conference call via Zoom more unlikely. In addition, due to Covid, we are holding the meeting outside; the people attending the meeting in person will probably have a problem seeing & hearing the people attending via Zoom. Rob & Mark, the President, are hoping to have this set up & working before tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. when the meeting is scheduled to begin.

It rained hard all morning, but it tapered off this afternoon. We went out to dinner with our neighbors & friends, Suzanne & Michael. It was still fairly crowded in Lubec and we had no trouble getting a table at Cohill’s; but then again, we did go early at 4 p.m. so we wouldn’t have an issue. Drinks and dinner were great. We all had burgers of various kinds; they are known for their excellent Angus Burgers. Rob had a Portobello Burger & I had a Beyond Burger. I hadn’t had this particular kind of veggie burger before, but Rob had one in Vermont and loved it. Well, I agree with him – it tasted just like a beef burger, maybe not a Cohill’s Angus Burger, but darn close. If found in a grocery store, we will buy some of these patties.

On the way home people were pulled off the road to take pictures of the incredible sunset. Rob took a few pictures with the phone. Immediately after we pulled back onto the road, it started raining. We got our pictures just in time, because it rained so hard that even with the windshield wipers going full blast, we could barely see the road ahead. This lasted no more that a few minutes, then gorgeous out again. You never know. Click any picture below to see a slideshow.
