FRIENDS.
Day 72 – It rained all night and was still raining this morning when we got up, 56 degrees. Since it’s cooler here and we have electricity, the cats are so happy to have their heated pads back. Some might say there are very spoiled.

It was still drizzling when we went into town after lunch. Even though we’d last been here at our land just 7 weeks ago, there was a big turnaround of houses sold and other houses now for sale. Things are changing. Since several restaurants have closed since COVID hit, those that are left are experiencing very busy times. When we ordered our pizza this morning for pick-up this afternoon, we found out that Morano’s Pizza has been so busy that they’d run out of stock on several items causing them to open late today & close early this weekend. In town, we saw ALOT of tourists heading into gift shops and the one main street was lined with cars. We bought a few supplies at the grocery store, stopped at the Post Office to have them start our mail up for our stay here, and headed back to our land.
Back on the dirt road to our property we passed a familiar car and stopped to chat with our friend & neighbor, Suzanne. We mentioned we had lots of mushrooms growing on our land & weren’t sure which ones were edible. I hadn’t gotten around to contacting Dana, one of the local mushroom experts. Shortly after getting back to the RV the phone rang. It was Dana. Suzanne had called Dana, who is also a friend & neighbor, and told her we needed mushroom help. Dana was on her way to town and calling to see if we’d like her to stop by to give us some advice. We said, YES, and moments later Dana was showing us how to best remove the mushrooms and which ones to take. She also recommended we go see Maureen, another friend & neighbor who is a mushroom expert. Dana was almost 100% certain what we had were chanterelle mushrooms. She even took a couple to try and basically, if she didn’t get deathly ill, we’d know they were good. Ho ho, we hope! Thank you, Suzanne & Dana, for your help and very nice to see you both! We’re going to take a couple of mushroom samples to Maureen tomorrow and get the final word.
We picked up our pizza, then took Partridgeberry Drinks out to the screened tent. It had temporarily stopped raining. After imbibing and getting a good buzz, LOL, we had some pizza, oh SO good. We are trying to get all of our daily recommended veggies and fruits, so with the vegetable cream cheese and the partridgeberries, we are doing quite well, hee hee. It started raining again after dinner. The more rain you get, the more mushrooms you get. The high today was 65 degrees.
So glad you are being cautious with the mushrooms! They are a feast for the eyes. Hope they are for the tummy.
