ANN D! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! A SPECIAL YOGA DAY FOR YOU?
Day 19 – We slept in a little this morning and stayed inside all day. The snow did not stay on the ground; it rained most of the night & it was windy. It looked a bit icy out this morning, 37 degrees, cold and wet. Tomorrow we plan to leave for Nova Scotia.
We relaxed all day. It was that kind of day – foggy, some rain, some wind, with a high of 43 degrees at the most. The girls slept all day, lazy also, and we all just tried to keep warm. That nice, hot bowl of Greek Pasta Sauce over Angel Hair Pasta will be really good tonight when it is forecast to rain some more.
Ponderosa Pines Campground: 4325 New Brunswick Route 114, Lower Cape, NB E4H 3P1; (506) 734-3121 or 1-800-822-8800; e-mail ponderosapinescampground@gmail.com; website http://www.ponderosapines.ca/. This was an excellent campground. Although the campsites are fairly close together, there are plenty of trees and many of the sites border either of the two lakes. The lakes are surrounded by marsh and there’s plenty of wildlife. We saw Bald Eagles every day we were here. Moose supposedly feed on the marsh at dawn & dusk (we didn’t see any). The campground is large with more than 220 campsites. Most sites offer full hook-ups. There is also tent camping. There are 11 cabins, one apartment, and one cottage. There’s a trail that goes around both lakes. From our campsite, #133, we were overlooking the Bay of Fundy with marsh between us and the Bay, and right by one of the lakes. Only two other campsites were occupied in the entire campground this early in the season. Summer would be a zoo, though. The campground is one of very few places to camp close to Hopewell Rocks, a spot which attracts many visitors in-season. Otherwise, it’s more of a drive if you want to spend the day at the Rocks. Ponderosa Pines Campground is very clean & well-maintained. Cost was $62.10 per night, Canadian currency, with the Good Sam Club 10% discount. We would stay here again off-season.
