THINKING OF YOU, KAREN!
Day 42 – We slept well last night; the RV bed is comfortable & due to the fact that we’ve been spending more time in the RV than at home, the RV now feels like home and home feels like our vacation place. The girls have adapted the same way, which is a surprise. They immediately made themselves comfortable in the RV. Quiet at the campground last night, it was 40 degrees this morning at around 7:30 a.m. We departed at 9:45 a.m. this morning, 44 degrees & cloudy. Our destination today was Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. To get there from New Jersey we passed through parts of NJ, PA, DE, MD, Washington DC, VA, and NC.

We arrived at the campground where we stayed on the way home several weeks ago, The RV Resort at Carolina Crossings, at 4:35 p.m. after making stops for gas, lunch, and a snack of Guinness Cake (we set some aside, Carol, to bring with us, thank you very much). It was 46 degrees & raining; it’s supposed to rain all night. The high today was 51 degrees, and it remained very cloudy; we never did see even a hint of blue sky. We checked in at the campground, happy that even though it was a Friday, there were plenty of campsites available. We had Site #5, full hook-ups, a pull-through campsite, $45. (A pull-through site allows us to leave the car hooked up to the RV, and since we wouldn’t have to disconnect the car, it saves lots of time.) I iced my knee, Rob iced his shoulder (what a pair we are!), we had an early dinner and relaxed for the rest of the evening. There was a steady stream of RV’s checking in; this place is an excellent stopover. It rained heavily and the frogs were very loud. We enjoyed the noise.

The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads: 415 Wallace Fork Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870, (252) 538-9776, www.rvresortatcc.com. The previous review of this campground can be found here: ABRUPT END TO TRIP #5. The only differences were that we had Site #O5 & they were not honoring the Passport America discount so we paid $45. We would stay here again.
