Day 31 – Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! 35 degrees at 8 a.m., sunny and still. After coffee, Rob went into town to Lowe’s in Kingsland (there were none in St. Mary’s) and bought a roll of finer mesh screen material, “Insect Screening, Tighter Mesh to Keep Out No-See-Ums” is what the label says. We’re only replacing the screens on 2 of the windows first, as an experiment, because the screens that came with the RV are very nice and allow more light and more air to come in, and we don’t want to get rid of those if these others don’t work. The cats have been very helpful with this endeavor, like 2 or 3 year old kids, persistently into everything!
Speaking of kids, we really like this campground, but a group of RV’s have come in and parked a little down the road – looks like a group of friends or relatives travelling together – and they have 7 children between them that start running around, and riding bikes, screaming and yelling, in the morning and go on all day and into the night, playing in all the campsites, while the parents sit out together around the campfire. So while it may look like all is perfect all the time, there can be problems. Dogs continually barking, that’s another one, although so far on this trip we haven’t encountered much of this. (There’s a “quiet time” at all parks which begins here at 10 p.m. and ends at 8 a.m. It’s different times at different parks. The kids aren’t making a bunch of noise during quiet time, so we just have to live with it. It’s their park too, and they’ve paid for their site, just like us. Life’s little aggrevations, waaa waaa waaa).
We decided to take a bike ride before the bugs got worse during the day as the temperature warmed. We covered ourselves with bug spray and tip-toed out, hoping not to wake the bugs. It worked and we had a great ride. Lots of places to ride and hike here.
Came back to camp, had lunch, and sat out in the screened tent for awhile, 68 degrees and sunny – checked to see how the bugs were in the RV and it was obvious the test of the finer-mesh screens worked. Rob will replace the rest of the screens tomorrow. Our next 2 campgrounds will probably have tons of bugs; we’ll be in swampy areas, so thank goodness for the new screens.
Rob dumped the grey water tank and took another bike ride, we showered, had dinner, and relaxed. High today 72 degrees, sunny & breezy. No pictures, been busy. Tomorrow will probably be the same……
So they don’t have a section for “adults only”??? (but to be honest, sometimes those are NOT quiet either!!!)
Nope, no adult-only sectrions 🙂 They do have private adult-only parks, but those are really “resorts” and not the kind of parks we usually prefer
