Palm Springs/Joshua Tree KOA, Desert Hot Springs, CA

ABOUT PALM SPRINGS/JOSHUA TREE KOA CAMPGROUND: We have never camped in this area before. This was a one-night stopover which we picked because it has plenty of all kinds of shopping in the cities nearby, it is fairly close to major highways without being in the middle of a hugely crowded area, and because we have found that in general, KOA’s offer quality and safety without a lot of hassle even though they tend to be overpriced.

We had site #69 in an area which wasn’t too crowded, it was a pull-through campsite with full hook-ups, the campground was well maintained and appeared to be safe, and it was fairly quiet. The cost was $79 for one night.

The campground offered amenities, most of which we’d never use, just like most KOA’s: a game room, fitness room, meeting room, seasonal cafe, showers, restrooms, horseshoes, mineral springs hot tubs and pool, miniature golf, laundry room, an office and store, a dog park, pickleball, basketball, cabins, eco tents, parking, recycling & trash bins, full hook-ups, satellite TV, propane delivery, propane campfire rental, bike rentals, etc. But sometimes the convenience of location and ease of use win out. We would stay here again for a one-night stopover.
