ABOUT MARTINAK STATE PARK: We have stayed at Martinak before when visiting Gail. Martinak is part of the bigger Tuckahoe State Park. Martinak is located about 15 minutes south of Tuckahoe.

Martinak State Park is a fairly small campground with two loops. Loop A has 34 campsites, all without hook-ups. Out of these 34 sites, 4 are cabins and 3 are first come, first served (reservations not accepted for sites 31, 32, and 33). Loop B has 35 campsites, all with electric hook-ups. Out of these 35 sites, 2 are cabins, 3 are tents only, and 3 are first come, first served (reservations not accepted for sites 28, 29, and 30.
Best campsites Loop A (no hook-ups): 34, 41, 42, 45, 53, & 54 with 34, 41 and 42 being the most private. Also #33 which is first-come, first served, is a good site and reasonably private. Best campsites Loop B (electric hook-ups): the only campsite that had some privacy was #18.
At Martinak, there is the Choptank River and Watts Creek for kayaking, which we’ve never kayaked because the boat launch area has always been closed when we were there. There are 3 miles of hiking/biking trails.
Check-in time is after 3 p.m. Check-out time is before 1 p.m. They did allow us to check-in early. The campground has fresh water and a dump station, restrooms and showers, playgrounds, picnic areas, and parking. The campground is open year-round. We like this campground and it is convenient to Easton/Gail’s and Blackwater. There are lots of trees. The campground is older and more rustic than Tuckahoe which is fine with us. We prefer it. To reach a ranger after weekday hours or on the weekend, call 1-443-221-8285 (we called after hours to see if we could check-in earlier than 3 p.m.) We paid $84.25 for 4 nights on site #34 (no hook-ups).
