ABOUT ISLAND COVE TOWN PARK: This is a Town Park. It is located on the northeast side of the community of La Scie. The Park sits on the top of a hill overlooking the north Atlantic Ocean on one side and La Scie’s harbor with the town behind it. The views and scenery are really great. We saw whales from the RV windows in 2019. Bald Eagles fly over the harbor. Much of the fishing that the town is famous for goes on below you. There are many hiking trails, abundant Gulls & Sea Birds, wildflowers, and lots of peace & quiet. The sunsets from here are amazing.
There are 14 campsites – nine sites with electric & water hook-ups and five smaller sites without any hook-ups. Three of the serviced campsites have good ocean/harbor views. Site #7 has the best view (both ocean and harbor), and the site next to it has very good views (Site #6) and is also a very large campsite. There is a dump station by the office. Other amenities include a laundry room, restrooms, shower facilities, office, picnic area, and small playground. There are several hiking trails, a beach, and a parking lot for whale watching that overlooks the Ocean. A picnic table and firepit/BBQ is at each campsite. They are open May 19 to September 10 in 2023. There are no rules about check-in and check-out times. In 2023 we paid $30 per night cash (Canadian currency). A credit card can be used if you pay at the Town Offices. We will definitely stay here again!
Island Cove Town Park: There is no official street address. The directions to the Park are: Route 414 east to La Scie, turn right at the bottom of the hill on the main street & follow it (and the signs) up the hill along the harbor to the end of the road. The phone numbers are (709) 675-2303 or (709) 532-6524 – in season, and (709) 675-2266 – off season. The e-mail address is townoflascie@eastlink.ca.
