ABOUT GOLDEN SHORE RV RESORT: We last stayed at this campground in January 2018 for two weeks. There are very few places to camp in the city of Los Angeles; this campground is located below L.A., in the city of Long Beach. With the traffic (which is common no matter what time of day it is), it takes about 40 minutes or so to reach Rob’s brother or sister’s houses. The campground is the only game in town, and we’re lucky it’s here. This visit we’d booked 6 nights. We added another night later in the trip.
The campground is near the Ocean, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, and downtown Long Beach. It is a bustling area. The campground is noisy with all the traffic. But we’re so used to the noise of the wind, it didn’t sound that much different. The campground isn’t very big. It’s well-maintained with 80 campsites. The sites are tight with barely enough room for a tow car and a RV. When the really big RVs came in towing pick-up trucks, or really big 5th-Wheel Trailers came in pulled by a large truck, it was quite interesting watching them jockeying about trying to get into a campsite. The grounds are nicely landscaped with bushes between many of the sites and there are some trees to provide some shade. Golden Shore RV Resort offers laundry facilities, a small pool and hot tub, restrooms, a small picnic area with three BBQ grills & one fire ring, a small dog-walking area, a store and office, and locked gates.
They were full, or almost full, every night of our stay. It’s crowded, but clean and safe; customer service is good. All campsites have full hook-ups and a picnic table. This visit we had site #52. The cost was $450 for seven nights; this included a discount for the 7th night. Check-in is after 2 p.m. Check-out is before 12 noon.
