ABOUT FORKED RUN STATE PARK: Located 3 miles south of Reedsville, Ohio, Forked Run State Park was, from what we could tell, an older Park. Because it was November and off-season, there was no one working at the Park – no one to check us in, and no campground information was available. This was our first time here, therefore, we don’t know much about the loops within the park, nor the amenities other than what we saw at the one loop that was still open, Loop 1.
We had reserved our campsite online, #25, and it was supposed to have 30 amp electric hook-ups. That didn’t work. We only had 15 amps. We saw no dump station, but we did see water spigots in Loop 1 – who knows if they had water. We stayed for one night – $29.50. There were very few campers here, a Sunday in November. Almost every site in Loop 1 was too small, about tent-sized, and those that were bigger than that barely fit trailers/RVs. Most campsites were not level and no wider than the width of our RV. The following campsites were level enough and large enough for RVs, should we decide to come back: #31, 30, 33, 34, 35, 37, and 39. The reason most of these were large enough was that they were pull-through sites in the middle of the loop. But they certainly weren’t that big! And there definitely would not be room to also put a tent up.
The campground is near the Ohio River. Loop 1 had 52 campsites, a small playground, and restrooms. We were unable to see the rest of the loops since the gates closed them off. For more information, google Forked Run State Park in Ohio.
