ABOUT ELWHA DAM RV PARK: Elwha Dam RV Park was located off Highway 112 near where the 112 meets Highway 101. It was a very convenient place to stay, only 15 minutes from the ferry terminal that goes to and from Victoria, British Columbia Canada. It wasn’t far from Port Angeles, where there are restaurants, stores (2 used book stores), and everything you might need. It was also right by the Olympic National Park, near Hurricane Ridge, near the Strait of Juan de Fuca, about a half hour from the gorgeous Lake Crescent, and 1 to 2 hours from Cape Flattery, Forks, La Push, the rainforests, etc. We would stay here again.
Elwha Dam RV Park is by the Elwha River. There were two dams here which were removed and now the River is coming back alive, back to its natural state. The campground is surrounded by large trees. They have done great things with this piece of land. They have an outdoor oven. They bake breads and sell them; we bought a loaf of sourdough. They have gardens, both flower and vegetable, and a greenhouse with a fish tank. They call this building the “Drama Free Zone”. There’s tables and chairs inside and they invite people to come in and relax. The way the place has been set up is amazing and it shows that the owners must’ve been RV campers. For example, there’s an area marked for “Stop and unhook your vehicle here”. Even though they managed to fit lots of campsites in a relatively small site, it doesn’t feel like you’re that crowded (even though you are).
There are 51 RV sites with full hook-ups and 25 RV sites with water and electric only. There is a dump station. There are also 19 tent sites in their own area. The campground is gated and secure. There is a guest house, a rental Airstream, and a cabin. Amenities include two ponds, a clubhouse, store & office, trash including recycle, parking, WiFi, a loop walking trail, restrooms, laundry room, showers, a very small playground and horseshoes, and they rent out electric bikes to campers.
We had site #7 for six nights, full hook-ups, $317.16. They offer a Good Sam club discount. Check-in time is 1 p.m. Check-out time is 11 a.m.
