Davidsonville Historic State Park, Pocahontas, AR

ABOUT DAVIDSONVILLE HISTORIC STATE PARK: We visited this Park on a whim – just a place to stop on the way to somewhere else. There’s an interesting story about this town. Please see today’s blog post for more information about Davidsonville.

Davidsonville, Arkansas sits near the confluence of the Black, Eleven Point, and Spring Rivers – just below Pocahontas, AR.It is located in rolling hills, surrounded by rivers, and a pretty forest. This is in contrast to the area surrounding the Park acreage which is flat farm land. The lovely park offers interpretive programs and services, exhibits, walking trails, camping, fishing & boating, a boat launch and a fishing pier, canoe rental services, a visitor center & store, playgrounds and picnicking.

The campground is small with only 20 campsites. There is also a small, primitive camping area with 10 tent campsites. The tent sites include a picnic table for each and water is available. The 20 larger-vehicle campsites all offer electric hook-ups and water hook-ups. In addition, 12 of the 20 campsites have sewer hook-ups (campsites 1 thru 6 and 15 thru 20). Our favorite sites are #14, #4, #9, #11, and #12. Site #14 is the best and is the one we had for this visit. Each site includes a picnic table, a fire ring, a grill for cooking, and a tent pad. We paid $23.87 for an off-season, senior rate for one night. Sites with full hook-ups are more expensive. There is a dump station. Because the campground is so small (and there are SO many parking spaces by the lake and river), we assume this Park would be extremely busy in the summer months. We would definitely stay here again off-season. It was a great find.
