Armistice Town Park, Roddickton, NL

ABOUT ARMISTICE TOWN PARK: This was our second stay at Armistice Town Park. Both times we were here, we had Site #2, and no one else camped here. We would stay here again.

This town park is shared by the small towns of Roddickton and Bide Arm. It is located off Route 433. The noise from the highway isn’t bad; it’s not a very busy road. But NOTE, some of the road on parts of Route 433 is in very rough condition.

The campground is on a hill overlooking the village of Bide Arm and the Canada Bay. There is a forest separating the campground from the Bay. There is a hiking trail that begins at the Park; it goes down the hill to the Bay and around the water. The trail was in some disrepair in 2023. Bide Arm is a small fishing village. In August and September, the Mackerel are running. The Bay is busy with Sea Gulls and Terns. Loon call in the distance. In 2023, we were here during the third week in August; in 2019, we were here in late May/early June. This area is known as the Moose and Caribou Capital of Newfoundland. In 2019, we saw MANY Caribou and Moose. We only saw 1 Moose in 2023. In 2019, there were Icebergs when we visited the small villages; there were none in 2023.

Armistice Town Park offers 8 campsites with 20 AMP electrical hook-ups and 3 sites without hook-ups. Drinking water and a dump station are available in Bide Arm. There are public restrooms, an extremely small playground, picnic tables and a couple of fire pits. We did have a phone/internet signal. We paid $20 per night, Canadian currency, payable in cash at the Green Moose Interpretive Centre in Roddickton, where you check in if you haven’t already paid. (You can make a reservation by calling on the phone and you can also pay at that time over the phone with a credit card.) Open June 1 to September 1 in 2023. There are no check in and check out times posted.
