ABOUT BILLINGS KOA HOLIDAY CAMPGROUND, BILLINGS, MONTANA, BILLINGS, MT: This was a one-night stopover. We were desperately in need of a place to dump our grey and black water tanks, and we needed to get some fresh drinking water. Although we are not huge fans of private campgrounds, there are times when a stopover is needed. KOA’s fit the bill in general mostly because you can count on them being safe, clean, and for the most part available even during busy times. They can be expensive but one night doesn’t hurt, especially when most campgrounds we stay in are cheap.

This campground in Billings, MT was a perfect stopping place for us, mileage wise. We were assigned a back-in campsite with a patio on the outside of the campground, therefore our views were good and we weren’t completely surrounded by other campers. Site M2 was roomy enough to completely fit the RV and the Honda tow car. Most of the campers around us had great big rigs and they were a bit tight in their spaces.

The site included full hook-ups and a patio with a picnic table that came with an umbrella for protection, a fire pit, and a glider chair. The campground offered laundry facilities, a BBQ restaurant open only in the summer, a miniature golf course, a playground, an office, picnic facilities, a path to the Yellowstone River, a pond, a swimming pool & hot tub, restrooms & showers, a dump station, an outdoor camping kitchen, a dog walking area, and sites for RVs, tents, and cabins. The campsites are assigned, so we didn’t drive through to pick our favorite sites. We paid $73.52 for the one night. Check-in time is after 3 p.m. (and they mean it!) and check-out time is before 11 a.m. (they mean that, too). Fees are charged if you arrive early or leave late. This particular KOA Kampground is the 1st KOA ever opened (1962) and also the first KOA Holiday ever opened (2013). We would stay here again under the same circumstances where we needed hook-ups and a place for a one-night stay.
