Val Marie Campground, Val Marie, SK

ABOUT VAL MARIE CAMPGROUND: Because this was a self-registration campground and we saw no one who worked there, we have no information about the campground. These are just the things we observed by staying there two nights.

We found this campground accidentally when driving through the tiny town of Val Marie in Saskatchewan Canada. We were on the way to the Visitor’s Center for Grasslands National Park. We saw this little City Park with camping on a corner. It seemed nice with some trees for shade. It was well-maintained. We ended up staying there when our campground of original choice at the National Park was unreachable on a rough, wash-board gravel road not suitable for the RV to travel on.

There were no more than 12 campsites spread around a fenced in, grassy field. Sites had picnic tables and fire pits. They also had 15 or 50 AMP electric hook-ups. There was a dump station and drinking water was available from a spigot at the restrooms. At the restrooms there were envelopes and a sign with instructions regarding payment. We paid $26.25 cash for the first night and paid $31.50 online for the second night.

Both nights we stayed in site #1, a partially shaded, partially open site that fit the RV and Honda just right. No one camped in the site next to us either night. The loudest noise we encountered was the cows mooing. We loved it. We would stay there again.

Val Marie Campground, Saskatchewan: the campground is on a corner off Route 4 heading north towards the Visitor’s Center for Grasslands National Park. Val Marie is a quirky, tiny town with gravel roads. With only a few streets in town, it should not be hard to locate.
