ABOUT STAMP RIVER PROVINCIAL PARK: This Park was located 10 to 15 minutes north west of Port Alberni off Beaver Creek Road. Turning off at the sign for Stamp Falls Provincial Park, it’s another several minutes driving on a beautiful, tree-lined road to the campground. If you continue another minute or two on the road, you reach the parking for the trail to Stamp Falls. This is a nice, pretty hike through the woods to the waterfalls and the salmon ladders. From early June to late August sockeye salmon fight their way up the falls to spawn. This is amazing to see!
This Park is also well-known for its great fishing. The campground was great, very small with little amenities, a fisherman’s campground. No playground, open all year, no hook-ups, no dump station, and no water, there are only 23 campsites. There is a free dump station in Port Alberni on Route 4 at Canadian Tire. The Stamp River rushes quickly by next to the campground and the sound of it roaring by is wonderful. Check-in was 11 a.m. Check-out was 1 p.m. We paid $126.90 (Canadian currency) for six nights. Generators were allowed 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. We had site #4 which was perfect: private, near the river, just the right size for the RV, Honda, and tent, and heavily protected by bushes and trees. We would definitely stay here again in this campsite, first choice. Other choices would be site 15 on the River (second choice) followed by 10 and 11. Sites 17, 18, and 22 were good but were closer to the Falls trail.
