TRAVEL DAY
From: Bayshore RV Park, Tokeland, WA.
To:Echoes of the Sea, Copalis Beach, WA.
Day 212 – We got up at 6:40 a.m. and guess what, it was raining. 42 degrees. The cats were hungry and were not going to take the brush-off. We were up early. Fed the cats and off to nap they went. And we were now wide awake. We had our coffee/tea, our showers, then we headed off to Raymond to the hardware store once again. Rob needed more plug-the-holes materials.

The wind picked up and it rained intermittently throughout the day. We heard from one of Rob’s cousins a quote from the Seattle Times that follows: “May in Seattle is usually cool and wet. This year, it is shaping up to be cooler and wetter. On average, the Seattle area experiences 1.88 inches of rainfall in the month of May, according to the National Weather Service. Eight days in, the area already had recorded 1.92 inches.” Both in Oregon and in Washington, we’ve heard that they’ve been getting much more rain than usual.
We departed Bayshore RV Park at 12:05 p.m. It was 50 degrees, very windy and there were rain showers. We stopped for gas in the RV, then headed north on Highway 105. Took Highway 101 east and north to Ocean Beach Road, a smaller, more narrow road winding through the forest to the Ocean and a new peninsula north of the one we were previously on. We stopped at a park and had lunch along the way. The scenery along our journey was very pretty but in the rain, sometimes almost blowing sideways with the wind, the scenery was certainly not as nice as it could have been. We turned off Ocean Beach Road to Copalis Beach Road to Highway 109, heading north until we reached our destination, Echoes of the Sea. This Park & Motel and the entire area were new to us. We’d never been here before. We hope it gets sunny some during the week that we’re here.

Echoes of the Sea was a small park with a motel in front and a campground in the back. There was a circle of 7 tent sites surrounded by trees and bushes, and there was a circle of 10 RV sites, also surrounded by trees and bushes. The RV sites included electric & water hook-ups; there was a dump station. Only one other camper was there. It was very quiet. The park is a work in progress. The owners, a couple that live on the property, bought the place two years ago, and are still in the process of fixing it up. Some things are brand new, other things will be replaced in the renovation. It worked just fine for us. We had campsite #01 with no one on either side of us. It was 50 degrees when we arrived. It was windy and it continued to rain on and off throughout the afternoon. It’s a bit muddy out. The girls seem to like it here so far. They are like us – as long as it’s quiet, all is well.
