TRAVEL DAY

From: Umpqua Lighthouse State Park, Reedsport, OR.

To:Port of Siuslaw Campground & Marina, Florence, OR.

Day 177 – It was 43 degrees and sunny around 7 a.m. this morning. We were in no hurry to leave because we couldn’t check in at our next campground until after noon and it wasn’t very far away from where we are now.

27 miles (1:00) 55580-55607
Cumulative travels from 10/11/2021 to 04/03/2022 6827 miles, 48780-55607

We departed at 11:25 a.m. It was 52 degrees. The drive was quick and easy with light traffic on Highway 101. Part of the drive was through forests, the rest was by the Ocean, by the Dunes, or by several of the many Rivers which cut through the landscape.

We had a couple of stops to make on the way and arrived at the Port of Siuslaw Campground at 12:25 p.m. Our site, #B1, was right on the Siuslaw River within walking distance to the Old Town district of Florence. There was no one parking next to us, we had full hook-ups, it was sunny & clear out, and the day was warming. We like Florence and the Old Town district is charming.

First thing after arriving, we had lunch, then set up camp. Rob worked on the leaky shower problem today. He took the skylight off, reinstalled it, and then resealed it.

Later in the afternoon we sat outside with our books. The River and surrounding scenery was lovely, and there were many birds/ducks/herons/geese, too. The high today was a perfect 68 degrees.
