ABOUT RUSTY’S RV RANCH: This campground was a private RV resort. We usually avoid private campgrounds. Sometimes there is nothing else around or you’re just tired of driving. Then we decide to stay at a private park. This was our first visit to Rusty’s.
There is nothing else out here; you are in the middle of nowhere. The RV park was just fine. Certainly not a resort, but it had everything we needed and was clean & quiet. The hook-up campsites were already taken. We took a dry site (no hook-ups). There was water available and a dump station. We were parked by ourselves (since everyone wants hook-ups) and that was just fine with us.
The campground offered 40 campsites with hook-ups and 12 sites without hook-ups. There were laundry facilities, a club house, a dog-walking area, fire pits & tables at all hook-up campsites; it was a basic, no frills campground, and we liked it. At check-in we were given a birding map with all the places where birds are commonly found marked on the map. They cater to astronomers and request that people not use outdoor lighting so the skies remain dark. YAAA. We paid $21 and change per night, including taxes & fees. We would stay here again.
Check out time is before 11 a.m. Our site was DC#6 (DC stand for dry camping). The dry camping section was virtually empty. Our solar panels are working out great. There are beautiful mountain views all around. There is very little traffic. The campground is only about 10 minutes from the east side of the Coronado National Forest. Very convenient. Current rates are $17 per night for tent campers, $19 per night for no hook-up campsites, and $32 per night for electric hook-ups (add tax to all rates). There is a dump station and potable water is available.
