ABOUT EAST FORK STATE PARK: Once again, no information was available at the check-in station – another campground where things were closed down due to it being off season. The information we have on East Fork State Park was gleaned when we drove through the Park scoping out the campsites for any future visit we might make.
East Fork State Park was a HUGE Park with 416 campsites (that we know of) and 12 campground loops. Three loops were open; the rest were closed for the season. From our drive through, we saw that this campground was very well maintained. We saw hiking and biking trails, a boat launch and a sand beach with MANY parking spaces, indicating that this Park gets quite busy during the summer. The lake was very large. This would be a great campground to bike through when it isn’t crowded. The campground also offers electric hook-ups at most campsites, and one loop had some full hook-up sites (Loop C). There are playgrounds, picnicking, a picnic pavilion, basketball, volleyball, miniature golf, horses & trail rides, a nature center, restrooms, shower houses, a dump station, trash, and potable water. And this is what we could see – we imagine there is more.
Loop A had 17 campsites where horses were permitted – the horse loop. Loop B had 23 campsites – this was our loop. This loop was surrounded by woods and some sites were fairly private. Loop C had 49 campsites; it was a bit more open than Loop B. The remaining Loops were closed and we could not drive through them, but while driving by we could tell that most of these loops were more open, except for Loop J which was more in the woods like Loop B. Our favorite campsite in those Loops that we could drive through was site #32, which just happened to be our current campsite. Other good sites were #89 in the C loop and #29, #30, and #31 in the B loop. We paid $65 for two nights. Check-in time is after 3 p.m. Check-out time is before 1 p.m.
