Moorings Oceanfront Camping, Belfast, ME

ABOUT MOORINGS OCEANFRONT RV RESORT: Located just a few miles north of busy Belfast, Maine overlooking beautiful Penobscot Bay, this is a very nice, privately-owned campground for RV’s, no tents allowed. We’ve been coming here for years. It’s expensive compared to State Parks, but we don’t stay in expensive campgrounds that often. The campsites all have full hook-ups and most have some view of the water. The best, and most expensive sites, are right on the water, and they can run as high as $115 for the best site during the summer season to $45 for the campsite farthest away from the water. Off season rates are more reasonable. We paid $59.95 per night in September for our site which was 1 row back from the waterfront sites, and we had a great view.

The campground offers laundry facilities, a camp store, a dump station even though the sites have a sewer connection, stairs down to the ocean – there’s a beach at low tide, swings and chairs overlooking the water, great customer service, cable hookups, a small playground, fire pits and picnic tables, etc. You can launch a kayak right from the shore.

For reservations or more information: www.mooringscamp.com or call (207) 338-6860. The e-mail address is info@mooringscamp.com. 199 Searsport Ave. (Route 1), Belfast, ME 04915. There are 44 campsites. The best (and most expensive) sites are: #1 thru #8. There are two lesser expensive sites that still have good views of the water but are not right in front: #9 and #32. These campsites, and the rest of the sites in row 2 are often booked way in advance. The campground is usually full most of the summer season. Check-in time is after 1 p.m., check-out time is before 12 noon.
