Day 60 – As Month #3 begins, we are amazed at how one day just folds into the next. We had to look at the blog to see where we were a month ago – searching for alligators in the swamp. It’s been such a great journey!
The high today was 84 degrees and very humid; supposedly a big storm is coming. We took a drive to the Kisatchie National Forest to do the Longleaf Vista Drive which we’d read about online. Scenic view, Louisiana’s Grand Canyon, hiking trails, a bayou – this is what we’d heard, so we had to see it. It was a two-hour drive to get there and the scenery was interesting on the way with a few quaint, old historical towns. The National Forest was beautiful and after visiting many States with FLAT land, it was different to come across this area with its rolling hills. The Longleaf Vista Drive runs across the ridge and has places to stop to view the scenery. The Grand Canyon? Well, we never saw it because there were so many big, gorgeous trees, but we could imagine it was there. The Bayou? We took a very long gravel, rough road and finally came upon a campground on this bayou, crowded and full of people, and barely bayou-like, but hey, it was all lovely and we had a nice day.
Drove back to the RV and it was hot and humid so we stayed inside with the cats and the air conditioning. Had dinner in the RV, nice to be back to the healthy food routine!
