Friday Sept. 5 – Sunday Sept. 14, 2025

Another 9 days gone and we are still making steady progress. Wall sheathing is starting to go up but we are still waiting on equipment to help us install the very heavy ridge beams and rafters.

On Friday Sept. 5, Rob worked on his own again in the morning. He continued to make modifications to the blocking between rafters to provide mounts for LED strip lights. In the afternoon, Rob, Wayne and Channon worked on raising the remaining newly arrived posts and beams.

On Saturday Sept. 6, rain was in the forecast for later in the day and Sunday so Rob did some work that needed doing before the rain hit. He cut down some insulation that will be used in the crawlspace and stored it in the crawlspace for later use.

On Sunday Sept. 7, it rained hard all day. On Monday Sept. 8, Rob worked on marking out the locations for ceiling joists and rafters ahead of the framing crew arriving the next day.

On Tuesday Sept. 9, Rob, Wayne, Channon, Jesse and Cody worked to get the remaining material off Wayne’s truck and onto the building site. After we found a place for everything, Wayne and Rob drilled various wiring channel holes in the rafters while Channon, Jesse and Cody worked on installing the ceiling joists.

On Wednesday Sept. 10, Rob and Wayne continued drilling the rafters, while Channon, Jesse and Cody continued installing the ceiling joists. Towards the end of the day we started sheathing the back porch so we could install the porch posts and beams.

On Thursday Sept. 11, The whole crew finished sheathing and installing house wrap on the back porch so Rob, Wayne and Channon could install the porch posts and beams. Those beams needed to be in place before the crane arrived to install the ridge beam and the rafter beams. Jesse and Cody continued sheathing more walls.

On Friday Sept. 12, the crane was supposed to arrive to install the ridge beam and rafters, but they had another job and had to postpone. Rob worked alone on the between rafter LED lighting.

On Saturday Sept. 13, Rob worked alone on more air sealing, taping the junction between the mudsill, frostwalls and wall insulation.

On Sunday Sept. 14, Rob worked alone again. After planning ahead for the roof deck install he realuzed that the 16 ft. tongue and groove boards wouldn’t fit between the rafters very well and determined that one of the planned rafter locations would have to move. This required moving one of the ceiling joists to make room and re-doing some of the between rafter blocking to accommodate the new spacing.

Framing is really moving along now. At this pace, you’ll definitely have a complete weather proof exterior by the time you pause for the winter break!
