Saturday August 16 – Monday August 25, 2025

We’re writing this post on Monday August 25 and it is the first really rainy day in a while. We’re taking a break from construction while we wait for the rain to pass.

Rainy day construction break, Cliff Haven, ME

On Saturday and Sunday August 16-17 we ran some errands in Lubec and Machias and Rob did some cleanup around the construction site.

On Monday August 18, Wayne picked up the house package from Habitat Post and Beam in South Deerfield, MA.

Back at the construction site Rob took delivery of some electrical conduit from our electrician Daine and Paul dug the electric service trench. Rob then laid the conduit and Paul filled the trench back in. In the afternoon, Dale and crew came and did some prep work for pouring the garage slab.

On Tuesday August 19, Rob worked alone. He sealed up the water line entrance into the frost wall and did some preliminary air sealing of the mudsill.

On Wednesday August 20, Rob worked in the morning doing additional air sealing and preparing for the back porch deck build. He cut the deck ledgers and built the 3-ply beam. In the afternoon, Rob, Wayne, Jesse, Cody and Wayne Sr. moved some of the house package from the trailer in Wayne’s dooryard down to the construction site.

On Thursday August 21, Dale and crew came back in the morning to pour the garage slab, finishing the foundation work. Rob and Wayne worked on building the back porch deck.

On Friday August 22 we went to Bangor, taking a day off from construction. On Saturday, August 23, Rob did some additional sealing around the deck and put down landscape fabric and stone.

On Sunday August 24, Rob finisihed up the back porch deck.

On Monday August 25, it rained and we ran some errands.

Here are a couple of pics of wildlife in the harbor taken while Rob had his morning coffee.

Im sure a great feeling being out of the ground now with foundation / below ground utility work done. Now comes the fun part building the actual livable space!
