UPDATE – 2024 and early 2025 and the Maine Cottage Again

Hello Again Friends & Family! It’s been awhile since we posted to the blog. We hope you are all doing well! In 2024 we stuck close to home, not doing much traveling except to go to our land in Maine for about 4 weeks last Fall. In early 2025 we went to Maryland for a few days to visit Vicki’s Step-Mom Gail. It was great to see you Gail!

Last year’s trip to Maine marked the beginning of another attempt to build a cottage on our land. Here we go again! Loyal readers may remember that we attempted this during Covid in 2020 but had to stop due to rising costs and supply constraints. During our trip last Fall, we had the building site prepped for construction to begin in early 2025. Lots of trees were removed and fill was brought in and leveled in preparation for pouring the foundation. This time around it looks like we picked another interesting time to make a major financial commitment! Regardless, this time, we are going to finish the build!

Writing this May 23, 2025 and still waiting on excavation for the foundation to begin. We plan on being in Maine for much of Spring-Fall in 2025 in hopes of getting the cottage raised and weather tight by Winter. We’ll be posting periodically with updates as the build progresses.

Site clearing / grading looks great with plenty of room from cottage footprint to the tree line. Look forward to seeing the progress updates!
