GOING HOME!
TRAVEL DAY
From: Spacious Skies Minuteman Campground, Littleton, MA.
To:Home, NY!
Day 181 – It was 49 degrees at 7 a.m. this morning. We departed at 9:45 a.m., 51 degrees, and it was partly cloudy. Little did the girls know that they were going home. They think they’re just going to another campground – would there be trees and birds; would there be ocean; would there would be lots of people?

Driving across Massachusetts using the Massachusetts Turnpike is one of our longer, more grueling drives. It’s pretty sometimes, the Berkshires and lots of forests and lakes, but it always seems like there is some blockage in the flow of traffic somewhere along the way. We have spent hours waiting to get going again sometimes. Today another was one of those days – but all the blockages were on the Eastbound lanes! We made good time and got home by 2 p.m. It was 59 degrees and cloudy.

When we pulled into the driveway the cats figured we were just pulling into another campsite. We let them out of the bedroom and they wanted to eat. Right Now! Rob went into the house to make sure everything was OK; no massive mouse problem, plumbing working, etc. Vicki began unpacking in the RV. When Rob got back to the RV about 10 mins later, the cats had figured out that we were home. They were so frantic to get out of the RV and into the house that Rob almost couldn’t get back in the RV. We normally carry each cat, one at a time, from the RV to the house. That wasn’t going to work this time! The kids were out of control! We stuffed them into cat carriers and moved them into the house that way. Opened up the cages in the house and ZOOM off they went. They have never behaved so crazy before we wish we had videoed it.
We just did minimal unpacking, bringing in the things we would need for the next few days. We’ll unpack the rest over the next week in between doc appts. Rob fully unpacked the Honda because we’ll need to do a bit of driving over the next few days and we didn’t want to haul around the chipper, chainsaw, kayaks, etc.
We had a shower in our beautiful new shower and used as much water as we wanted! What a luxury! You forget how a nice shower feels when you don’t have to save every drop of water. We also loved spending the night in our new bed. Such luxury. Like sleeping on a cloud.
The girls finally calmed down a bit and assumed their usual positions throughout the house. On their heating pads of course! Like usual, Gracie did a lot of meowing in the middle of the night. She takes a few days to fully settle down. The rest of the girls did fine.
It’s wonderful to be home!
Welcome home! Squeeze the kitties for me. Love you both ❤️
I second all of what Liz says!!! 😺
