TRAVEL DAY

From: Forest Ridge Campground, Ellsworth, ME.

To:Wolfe’s Neck Oceanfront, Freeport, ME.

Day 178 – We got a little rain last night, but it’s a very nice day today. It was 46 degrees at 7 a.m. this morning. This was a good campground, very quiet. Just what we needed!

Cumulative travels in the RV from 04/20/2023 to 10/14/2023 4,860 miles, 62827-67687

We departed at 10:15 a.m. It was 57 degrees, partly sunny with beautiful white clouds. We traveled southwest on US-1 to Belfast and then drove west on Maine 3. At Augusta, we got on the Maine Turnpike, then headed South on I-295 towards to Freeport. We’re staying in Freeport at Wolfe’s Neck Oceanfront Camping. We always stay here on our way to and from the land if it is open.

When we got to the campground we found huge crowds. Turns out it was the annual Fall Festival today; we didn’t know so we were surprised they were so busy. We were lucky to get a campsite! We arrived at 1 p.m., 61 degrees, and partly sunny. Our campsite was #805 in the West Bay field near the pumpkin patch. We are across the campground road from beautiful Casco Bay. Very pretty. Whenever we camp here we see the farm’s cow herd being moved from field to field. We saw them on the way in today and we hope to see more of them during our stay.

Rob’s foot is feeling better, but I am a bit tired. Tomorrow we will be relaxing all day. Usually when we stay in Freeport we go to the huge LL Bean store in town. This time we’re going to skip it. One thing we never miss is the Lobster Stew at the Broad Arrow Tavern. I haven’t had much of an appetite but I have to have some of that delicious Lobster Stew. We’ll get some food to-go from the Tavern later on today.
